Every Roll Counts. Every Meal Matters.

Hi, I’m Samuel, and I run Misfit Hobbies.
Normally, you’ll find me writing about dragons and dungeons, cursed relics and curious encounters. But behind all the fantasy, the real reason I started this was simple: I believe in bringing people together.
Some of the best moments in life happen around a table, whether it’s rolling dice on a Sunday afternoon or sharing a meal with someone you love. That connection, that shared experience, is at the heart of everything I make here at Misfit Hobbies. And yet, over the years, I’ve come to realise that not every table is filled with stories and laughter. For many people, putting food on the table isn’t a given, it’s a daily struggle.
Food poverty is quiet. It doesn’t always look the way we expect it to. It hides in the ordinary. A parent skipping meals so their child can eat. A student living off instant noodles. A neighbour deciding between heating and groceries. And the worst part? It’s so easy to feel invisible when you’re in it.
That’s why I wanted to do something.
From 2025 onward, for every sale I get here at Misfit Hobbies, whether it’s through Kickstarter, a webshop, or in person at an event, we donate a recipe book zine to a local food bank. These aren’t flashy cookbooks. They’re short, practical, and designed with real circumstances in mind. Every recipe inside uses ingredients commonly found in food parcels. They’re quick, filling, and most importantly, they treat the reader with dignity; no judgement, just good food made simple.
If you’re reading this because you bought something from me, thank you. You’ve done more than support a small business. You’ve helped make someone’s next meal a little easier. That’s the kind of magic I believe in.
And if you’ve ever needed help yourself, please know this: needing support isn’t failure. It’s human. We all have chapters where we need a hand, and that’s what community is for.
Thanks for being part of this one.
– Samuel
